Dreya Weber’s Sexy New Film ‘Raven’s Touch’

Raven Michaels is unlike any female character you’ve ever known – she was created to move you, challenge you, excite you and ultimately draw you in to her world then never quite let you out – which will be fine, because you won’t want to leave anyway.  Raven was born in my imagination, but has truly come to vivid life in the hands of the woman who will play her on screen, Dreya Weber.  You may know her from “The Gymnast” or “A Marine Story”, but I guarantee you’ve never seen her like this, and Dreya couldn’t be more thrilled about it.  Well, neither could I.

Dreya ominous ligterThis wonderful collaboration began just a few months ago over a cup of coffee, the way many partnerships in Los Angeles do, and we’ve been working non-stop since then to make our scheduled goal of filming “Raven’s Touch” this summer, 2013.  The script, written by Dreya and myself, is so intimate, layered and raw – even on the page the words send your heart racing.  To take our joint passion for telling this story even further, we will be co-directing as well.  It’s an ongoing adventure as we each have our strengths and gifts to offer the project, and having two sets of eyes on everything is just brilliant.  I highly recommend it.

One of the next important steps we’ll be taking is to cast the role of Kate, the other lead playing opposite of Raven.  The beautiful part about already having one lead cast is that it becomes all about “who has the chops” and “who has that special chemistry with Dreya”.  It’s one of the most critical steps in this roller coaster world of making indie films, and it’s one of the most rewarding.  When you see that magic on the screen, the kind that gives you goose bumps and makes you squirm in your seat just a little…and you know you helped your audience fall in love with the characters…serious satisfaction.  Casting Kate – sounds like a great story about to unfold, so stay tuned.  The collaboration continues.

And speaking of collaboration…drum roll please…”Raven’s Touch” is a completely donation based project.  We want to bring you the very best women’s film possible, and to help make that happen we are asking for support from our community of friends, family and lovers of female empowered stories being told on the screen…Dreya and I are asking for support from you.  We have some truly awesome rewards listed on our website to say “thank you for your donation”, so please visit to take a look.  Every single dollar matters and we put it all up on the screen – we don’t pay ourselves a dime – we give our time, energy and every creative ounce we have to produce what we hope will be a movie you’ll watch over and over again.  It would be amazing to have you on board as part of our team, our film family.  Very special things await members of our family, so please join us for what is going to be one heck of a ride.  And no, you won’t want to get off…the ride.

Ed Note: For those of you in the Bay Area, come party with Dreya, Marina, Epochalips, One More Lesbian and Girl Pages Network on April 20 at the Hotel Monaco in San Francisco. Join us for a fun filled night including great food, drinks and music by DJ Rockaway, who will have the place jumpin’. President and Co-Founder of Soul Kiss Films, Marina Rice Bader has two passions in life: her family and making movies. “Elena Undone” was her first producing project, and she loved every minute of it – she also learned what the term “wearing a lot of hats” really meant. Her second film “A Perfect Ending” is now reaching worldwide audiences. Marina is dedicated to making films that are rich, textured, and always feature strong female leads. She has been a Los Angeles based photographer working with celebrities, actors and children for the past two decades. Among some of her favorite clients are Hector Elizondo, Carol Channing, Val Kilmer, Wentworth Miller, Judith Light and Sir Ben Kingsley. Her transition to films, the ultimate in visual storytelling, was only a matter of time.

  • Marina, Your imagination has collided with my life experience. I am very close to having the $25,000 dollars that get me to watch the visionary’s of Soul Kiss. Be kind to yourself and have a kite flying, mud pie making, rainbow color day.
