Lesbian Filmmaker Lauren Fash

Lauren Fash began her film career in 2007. She has held a variety of film crew positions from production assistant to writer to director. I became aware of Lauren when I watched her award winning film Quiet in 2012. Quiet is the story of a woman named Ali who is denied the right to make […]

A Long Lost Lesbian Daughter

A Long Lost Lesbian Daughter

In 2010 I started watching Lisa Kudrow’s PBS show “Who Do You Think You Are?”. As an adopted person, I was suddenly awakened to the desire to figure out who I am. Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adored my parents. If there is an adoptive lottery, I won the multi-million dollar mega-millions. So, […]

Lesbians! Don’t Be Afraid of ‘Vagina Wolf’

Last night I curled up on the sofa with my chenille comforter and pot of tea and watched Elizabeth Taylor scream at Richard Burton in the Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Well what better way to get that image out of my mind than to download Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf? from Wolfe Video. And […]

Cholodenko-More than a ‘Lesbian’ Writer/Director

Cholodenko-More than a ‘Lesbian’ Writer/Director

Lisa Cholodenko chooses her projects wisely. I first heard of her when in 1998 she wrote and directed the mesmerizing film High Art with Radha Mitchell, Ally Sheedy and Patricia Clarkson. It is a film with so many layers that you are drawn back to it over and over. Each time you discover another emotion, […]

Lesbians: Lets ‘Follow’ Frenchie Davis

Lesbians: Lets ‘Follow’ Frenchie Davis

We first met Frenchie Davis in 2003 when she appeared on American Idol. A few years later she belted out “I Kissed a Girl” on The Voice. She didn’t win but it didn’t affect her career. It didn’t stop her from garnering Broadway raves for her roles in RENT and DREAMGIRLS. Her recording contract is in […]

The Conundrum of the ‘Femme’ Lesbian

The Conundrum of the ‘Femme’ Lesbian

Since I came out as a lesbian twenty-five years ago I have had a plethora of statements and questions about me that no one ever would have stated when they assumed I was straight. In the beginning, I got the proverbial, “I never would have guessed you were a lesbian” and the “Gee, you don’t […]
